My second week in Australia, I found an ad on Gumtree asking for people to be in a video promoting the YHA hostels. I was really excited-I always wanted to have a camera following me around! The interview went really well-Charis was amazing. I really liked meeting her, and was very excited when I got the call from her to be in the videos.
We all met at the train station the day of the first video. I didn’t know that Australians refereed to “Hungry Jacks” as “Burger King” so I was looking all around the train station for a Burger King. I finally found everyone, and was pretty out of breath after running around with a big backpack on my back.
Everyone was so nice, and I really enjoyed meeting and learning where everyone was from. There was Mehdi (France), Sarah (Norway), Max (Germany), and Noora (Finland). Dave was our camera man, and he was from Canada.
We walked around the train station, checked out the hostel, and visited China Town. Robin, from the hostel, got to join us. She looks like Lady Gaga, which was pretty cool! I loved her fun personality, and zeal for life.
We went on to the aquarium, and saw all the different sharks and fish. We tried to go to the tower, but it was too windy to go up. So we went back to the hostel, and shot the pool scene and had some burgers.
That night, I went to see a show at the Opera House with Rosy. It was a British play called “The Comedy of Errors” done by Australians. I liked the costumes, and the acting was good, but the comedy escaped me most of the time. I’m not really into dry humor. I also had a massive headache, and ended up getting food poisoning from the Chinese I had earlier that night.
